Video: Race over Bonte, 3-2 in PKs

Published by BVFC at 1:36 pm under Latest Scores, New Video, Results

In what will soon become another BVFC classic, Bonte Cafe and Race Street clashed in a thrilling match last Tuesday at palumbo field. At the end of a long night, after double overtime and Penalty kicks, Race St. came out on top.

Both sides showed up in numbers, bringing their heavies in an anticipated re-match of last season’s final championship game. Of course, last November Bonte slipped in an unanswered second half goal to take the Championship. This season, Race st was looking to change the outcome, and Bonte was looking at the opportunity to advance and defend their crown for an unprecedented third time.

Both teams started off strong with a number of shots for both sides that were managed by the keepers. The half ended in 0s

in the second half, Bonte came out screaming and put more pressure on the Race back line. It paid off in a brilliant penetration by Nacmy to the race line where he passed off to another waffle for the goal. Soon after Race back, Juan, fouled Steffen in the box, earning a PK that was converted by Glen. It was now 2-0, Bonte.

Facing a big loss, Race really stepped up and pressed like mad. This soon earned a PK in the Bonte box. Vatche took it, and then it was a 2 - 1 game. Race then played like a team possessed, and were literally all over the pitch and the effort paid off with a cazy box-bouncing, redirect off of Heri’s anatomy to tie the game with 20 seconds left.

Due to the late hour, ref and captains decided to go straight to PKs. See the video for the outcome.

Race advances to the final for the second season in a row and is looking for a second championship. Bonte will now battle Vesuvio for the third place spot. Fuego advances to the final for a second time (since 2007) and is looking for their first title. Big thanks to Dave and the rest of the helpers running lines

(Thanks to Charlie Flowe for the video)

I woulda had all the captains take the first pks. and then steffan, so he could dive in the box again…

Good point “truth”, at least he wouldn’t kick it straight to the keeper. He did have quite a few goals this season.

Steffan didn’t dive, it is his new shorts. The wind got under and blew him over. Now, had he been wearing short shorts, spandex, he would have stayed on his feet.

Why was Chris Haines kicked out of Palumbo during the pks. Did you guys notice that he was on Bainbridge watching it all unfold. Come on Bula show some respect for your co-captain.

Quality video by Charlie but dude learn to count til 5. Race St after 4 pks was just hilarious, its worth watching more than once.

    dive? More like a cannonball!!bahaha
Juan tackles people during friendly pick ups at starr, what makes people think he wouldn’t tackle a player in his own box in a critical game. I don’t know. Hey steffen, summer olympics are 3 years away plenty of time to work on those dives!

And don’t blame Charlie. He was just a
photographer. Dave, Ricky, and Gerri can’t count to 5 either. Idiots.

Don’t get me wrong. Dave, Ricky and Gerri are not the most smartest around. At least goalkeeper Alex gave them earful.

I don’t understand how dave and ricky are still involved in the league. They have cause so much fight in this league that they should be exiled from the Bella Vista neighbourhood. Punks!!!!

On a more lighter note, Nachmie didn’t spit or fight with anyone this year and was well controlled by Bula.

Why didn’t jerry and dave play this year?

  8. The InstantGatoron 19 Nov 2009 at 9:10 am

Why is megawords still a sponsor on the site?

  9. The InstantGatoron 19 Nov 2009 at 9:12 am

Why does the standings say race street played 10 games but there W L D equals 9????

I’m trying to figure out what’s worse. The reffing in the league or the website?

Hey, I wasn’t kicked out. I told the refs I would stand there and retrieve balls over the fence since we only had a few minutes. I guess I should have volunteered as a shooter - although I would have been the one most likely to put it over the fence and then no one would be there to get it. You get the picture.

Everyone made such a fuss about the refs inability to count to 5. However, posted on this page, the title reads “Race over Bonte 3-2″. So if Race missed 1 (Heri) and Bonte missed 2 (Adam and Haj) how is the score 3-2. Maybe the refs even confused the webmaster.
