Bonte Wins 2007 BVFC Championship Cup

Bonte and El Fuego played the final of the BVFC championship at 2pm amidst the falling winter rain. Even though they were tough conditions to play in, goals were plenty. Bonte won 9-3… here are some details:
The first goal was a fabulous lob pass from a freekick by Chris Haines which Bula volley-lobbed over Richard into the top corner of the goal. This was the 3rd minute of the game. Fifteen minutes later, enter Adel for the Waffles. Adel put his mark on the game with a magnificent goal running down the right wing and finding the angle with a blistering shot. He continued scoring two more, one of which was from 20 yards. By the end of the half, Adel’s injury was acting up, but his work was more than done. Just before the half ended, Ricky put his first into the net. It was 5-0 at the half. In the second half, it seemed as though Ricky was not done… and opened the half scoring with a bullet into the left corner of the Burrito goal. El Fuego began to play better in the second half, and began scoring by putting 2 consecutive goals in. I believe Karim scored them, both of which were hit low and hard into the waffle goal, virtually unsavable. But the Fuego momentum was slowed when Heri on the break passed to Bula who scored his second. A penalty for the Burritos from a handball allowed Alex to score the 3rd Fuego goal. Soon after, waffle Big Kev took a low shot scoring Bonte’s 8th, and Zanzibari international Heri Ali capped the day with the waffle’s 9th and final goal.
“We played an absolutely fantastic final considering the conditions. Every Bonte player was superb, and gave it their all, not just for the final, but the whole season. We look forward to defending our title next year!” - Bula.
Thanks to Conrad for great reffing on a wintry rainy day.
Bonte now joins Race St and Vesuvio as BVFC champions.

Thanks to all three refs for being out there. Atleast we were running around, but they hardly got to move in the 30 degree weather.
such a shame a final would be decided to be played with weather like that….
next season should begin early august and end in early november, not december. it was cold … reminded me of 2 years ago, which was a semifinal, and colder!
thanks again for giving us a forum to enjoy the beautiful game. hope you enjoy the cold and bvfc-less winter! congrats to the waffles. i am still disappointed that hari wasn’t wearing tights… happy holidays, zack
The first burrito goal was actually scored by Jon Woodring, second was Karim.
A big thank you to all three match officials - it was cold and miserable, but we all appreciate the effort.
I don’t think anybody could have predicted a scoreline like that, but I have to say that none of the Bonté goals were cheap, or just down to errors - they were all quality goals, with some of those shots being the best I have ever seen at this level. It seemed like every one was laser guided to be just out of my reach and just inside the post. Adel’s first goal was nothing short of incredible. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the MVP of this league. Just imagine what he would be like if he were fully fit!
The best team deservedly won - and I don’t just mean the final game. Bonté were the best team in the league and thoroughly deserve the title. We had a hell of a run of games to make it in to the final, and I am very proud of our ‘little team that could’ performance over the past month. Now, when’s the party ?!
Thanks to all for a fun season. After sitting on the sidelines for about 10 years, I had an amazing time this year. I’m looking forward to many more seasons of BVFC!

I’ll like ,first of all ,to congratulate Bonte for winnining the tournment ,they certaintly deserved it .
I ,also ,would like to thank all that participated in this year soccer season .
A special thank to all the volunteers, for sparing their time, refereeing and running the side lines.
To those who voiced their concerns about the way the tournment was conducted and the problems that occurred,I can only send my apologies.
We, as club , try to organize the tournment as best as we can but things happens and we don’t always have a quick remedy to fix it.
We listened to your suggestions and reccomandations and if we’ll have another season next year we’ll try to implement changes that we’ll hopefully address those concerns.
I wish you all a wonderful holyday season.
Best regards
Walter
