Bonte over Vesuvio 4-2 in an Entertaining Match

Published by BVFC at 9:52 am under Latest Scores, Results

Cold… yes. But impressively, both teams were complete with substitutes in one of the most entertaining and hard fought games of the season. The game was mostly clean and well reffed by Richard.

Bonte opened up the scoring with Bula’s shot after a meticulous pass from Adel. The Waffles Added to the scoreboard when Keith made a strong run down the right wing, and blasted it into the net from an admirable angle. The Calamaris fought back with an impressive show of ball skills with Andy taking on 4 players (Lionel Messi style) including the goalie to tap it in for the first Calamari goal. Bonte came back with a deftly placed lob header by Keith, his second, from a Chris Bull cross. The score at the half was 3-1.

To begin the second half, a Heri Ali clearance from the back was skillfully tapped by Adel using his heel over Doud, back to himself, leaving Adel one-on-one with the goalie, where the waffle striker finished with elegance. Five minutes later, Andy countered with a pin point placed shot from 20 yards from Marco’s cross. From here on, it was a battle in the midfield, and the game ended 4-2 Bonte.

“Every waffle played superbly. Dominic, Leah, Heri and Chris Haines were awesome. Ricky played great in goal, and Keith scored 2! This game was the most fun we’ve had this season” - Bula.

Bonte has sealed its position as the top team going into the playoffs. Tomorrow, Vesuvio is playing El Fuego at Noon at Sacks. A win from El fuego would guarantee them the final qualification spot. Bonte plays Via Bicycle at 2pm.. Via need to win to guarantee a spot, or draw if El Fuego loses. Come to Sacks (4th & Washington) to watch the entertainment unfold.

In today’s game (Saturday) El Fuego won 1-0 against 7 man Vesuvio. Thank you to Ricky for refereeing. We were terrible, but at least we managed to scrape a win.

Deary me. At least we are in the playoffs, which is quite a feat, considering the start to the season we had.
