Sunday: Race upsets Patriots, Bonte and Fergies win
Race St. v. Patriots 1-0.
How did this happen? The team reckoned as the squad to beat in the league lost! Well, that’s not the whole truth. Patriots seemed to dominate much of the game play, and had some great chances to not only draw, but win this game. It is not easy to beat the Giants of Race St. They are solid in defense. But for the pats to give up the goal, it took just one defensive error, that the bloodthirsty hawk Conrad swooped upon. Let’s see… defender has 3 choices under pressure, pass to goalie, try to clear, kick it out, or pass across the field to fellow defender. Conrad anticipated the latter, and made them pay. Apart from that, the Patriots still lived up to their reputation.
Waffles beat Burritos 5-2

BIG KEV SCORES!
Fuego did not have 2 of their best, Darin and Jeremy. Yet, they put up a solid effort. The first goal was pin point header by Mr. Bull into the burrito net from a Jared corner. Ten minutes later, Zack returned the favor with a header of his own from Alex’s corner. The score was tied. Ricky scored the next giving the waffles the lead, and once again the burritos tied it at 2-2 at the half. In the second half, things changed a little. Ricky scored the first, and Big Kev scored the last 2, and the waffles ran away with this game in this Walnut St. derby.
Fergies dominate the Roosters 4-1.
Ok. Both teams started off slow, perhaps recovering from their Saturday games! The Roosters started off strong, and Mike Fish put his mark on the game with the first goal. Then it was Fergies for the entire match. One remarkable goal was Jason’s freekick… a highlight moment! Mike and others contributed the rest of the Fergies goals. Here is an observation… Abdul, where in the world is Abdul playing? The roosters are playing completely scattered. Positions are being violated. Few come back to defend. Ball control and possession was deteriorating. Players looked lethargic. Omar was doing his tired dance in the midfield. Sorry about the rant… back to Abdul. He is arguably league’s best player, and his efforts are being diluted from a sweeper position all the way to striker. If the Roosters are not able to collaborate, create passplay, and strike on goal, it’ll be KFC for their future opponents.
By the way, i seemed to have lost the scorers list for this game, please email it to me! cheers.

we were playing with a lot of walking wounded and missing some key players, and with the unfortunate pre-game injury to steph, lost a key defender. charlie valiantly stepped up despite his knee problems, but coming off our game on saturday in the hot/humid weather, it’s no wonder the energy level was a bit low.
we’ll bring it together and have no doubt will improve to have great success in the league!
also think it was 4-1, not 5-1. fish scored for us. then it was jason, tri, greg, and someone else who got a shot off to my right. don’t think there was a fifth.
Here we go again. Race St. this, Race St. that. Race St. is nothing without Kenji, Julian, Paco etc…Whomever wrote the Race St vs. Patriots report forgot to mention that Race St. also could have easily won the game 5-0. Good luck to Patriots on October 16th, they get a crack at Race St. a second time, hopefully they’ll be able to capitalize on those many opportunities they had, hopefully get Mike’s shirt dirty. If you call shots on goal that are closer to the corner flags opportunities, Race St will definitely take that.
My regards to the writer.
Hey Eddy, at least he said you guys were tall (sorry, he actually said giant)!!
Ben we got a secret weapon coming off the IL soon, very soon.
Via has a secret weapon too!!! it is so secret that we do not even know if he is coming….
The final goal scorer for Fergies was Mike Geller.
Yes I believe it was 4-1.
Hey new Race Street players,
Don’t be surprised by the reporting! Those of us who have been playing under the Race Street colors are used to this. Every year is the same, “we don’t get no respect”! But it’s ok. For the past three years, Race street (in its different incarnations) has always been the team with the least amount of losses and the one that everyone secretly hates to play, but we never get good press. Somehow our good results are always due to the fact that the other (better) teams that we play against are having a bad day or are missing players or have injuries; nevermind the fact that we’ve had our own injuries to account for or the fact that we sometimes played down one or two man.
It’s cool anyway! We should only do our talking on the field and let the scribes do their job and let the other talented teams underestimate us. It makes for fun reading for the rest of the league and we are comfortable flying under the radar.
Eddy — I don’t think Lance is such a secret, is he? Although he will definately be an addition to your squad. Looking forward to the Vesuvio - Race street matches, I think we should probably play the ball on the ground instead of the air, huh?
Lance has the same injury as Charlie. hmmmmmmm.
conrad - nicely put. and true.
in case fergies loses to race street on thursday, you guys cheated. and most of our team is suffering from flu-like symptoms.
Lil Kev, sorry for the bitch-slap to the face near the end of the game
Race street losing kenji and company does make the team different. Race street went from being a very offensive team to a very defensive team.
Just my humble opinion
Chau-
What? Huh? I don’t remember…oops I think I may have a concussion.
That’s ok, however, you should know better…that shot would have gone high, wide, or both.
Having Kenji would be a positive impact on any team, no one would argue against that. So far, after three games, we’ve played three different line-ups because many of the players have not been able to make it to all the games. So, the team is still finding its legs and we are still playing very disciplined.
I guess what I think is implied in your comment is that Kenji was the offense of this team the last couple of years. True enough, he scored lotsa goals when he played, and I am sure that a great number of defenders were “posterized” the last couple of years, but he also missed quite a few games and we still won those. My point is that this has always been a team game, and no one seems to remember the contributions of Mike, Jason, Q, Matt, Alan, Julian, Paco, Christina etc… in the past two years.
We can only play with the players that we have, since we’re not allowed to have players mysteriously appear on our roster, whether by mistake or by design :-p . Others decide to have a team based only on offensive players, our approach is more towards strength at the core, as the team gels we’ll see if that was a wise decision.
I will also add that the Patriots have a very good team and I congratulate them on a cleanly played game, good luck to all!
I guess my smiley face didn’t come off…
Why is everyone so bothered by the statement that Race Street upset Patriots? As I recall, Race Street seems to upset everbody they play against. Oh, you mean that’s not what they meant by “upset”?
I think it’s because race Street is upset
at the comment.
Obviously soccer is a team game. And by me playing a striker position my entire life I know that one person cannot “be” the whole offense. Even though some will attempt to dribble and dance around teams… The midfield needs to feed you the ball. I did mention Kenji and company referencing Julian, Q, and others. That was just laziness on my part to not go through the whole lineup. My comment was basically saying by losing some players all the while gaining others you guys are stronger defensively than offensively than in the past. I didn’t mention anything about the overall core of race street being better or worse. Teams can have strong core competencies but at the same time be stronger and weaker in some aspects of the game. I mean so far you guys have had one of the lower GF totals but at the same time you guys have only given up 2 goals..
Just a simple observation. No need to be so defensive! (Pun INTENDED)
Dave,
As a matter of fact you are right, we are a very defensive team and that’s why we play with 9 defensive minded players, we actually barely got through the midfield line in our first 3 games.

Hey Lil Kev, you want to reschedule???
Conrad…your team is being SOCCER DISCRIMINATED!!!
Just keep on playing the way you have been doing, and you will be more than fine!!! Because in fact..your team did beat the “supposed to be Champion of the league”.
Enjoy the VICTORY!!! and get ready to play Via!!
Yo Dave,
You played striker your entire life!!!???
WOOOOOWWW…it doesn’t look like!!
That should have been titled a Defender from Bonte…
No, couldn’t have been Ricky, he doesn’t play defense.
just to set the record straight, It wasn’t me.
We already knew it wasn’t you, Ricky — it was funny.
Ricky… Agustina thinks you are funny!!!
Allthough I am not sure why…
Because Ricky is “funny” looking.
guilty conscience ricky…I could have been referring to any Bonte defenders…or are you the only one?
The guy is “funny” looking, dirty on the field, and sometimes smells bad….but at least he is being honest in this one!!!! or is he the only one who allowed to talk crap?? Anyhow…I prefer playing a skillful “dancer” rather than “cherry picker” striker.
Come Sunday, its on Bitches!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t think he is “funny” looking, I think he is “funny” like queer
No need for that
Anon,
I am a queer, ask your dad. He love to suck my d**k.
Ricky.
